University of Cambridge admission system and Cambridge International AS and A Level Statement
We are aware of some confusion on Chinese social media about the University of Cambridge's admissions system following the introduction of admissions assessments.
We would like to make clear that if you are applying to Cambridge, you still need to be studying high school leaving qualifications such as A-Levels, IB or an equivalent qualification.
What you need to know:
- Universities in the UK, including the University of Cambridge, require A Levels or an equivalent qualification for entry to their degree courses.
- The Colleges of the University of Cambridge are introducing a system of written assessments, specifically tailored to each subject, for all students applying for admission in October 2017 and for deferred entry in 2018, regardless of the qualifications they have previously studied.
- The Colleges of the University of Cambridge will use evidence of academic ability from admissions assessments in addition to, not instead of, attainment in high school leaving qualifications.
The above advice has been approved for circulation by the University of Cambridge.
