More than 350 teachers, trainers and education experts came together for our inaugural Cambridge Teachers Conference Pakistan in Lahore on 26 June 2024, with hundreds more watching the event live online.
Exploring the theme 'Finding educational balance in a changing world', the conference was firmly focused on today's dynamic and evolving education landscape. Keynote presentations and workshops addressed the challenges and opportunities educators face in balancing traditional teaching methods with modern innovative approaches.
Participants were treated to three insightful keynote presentations, beginning with Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), who spoke on 'Education in the age of disruption'. He drew attention to pressing issues facing education, including the impact of AI.
Dr Simon Child, Head of Assessment, Cambridge Assessment Network spoke on 'Understanding Assessments: finding the balance – too much, too less, too early?', while Carolyn Tiller, Director, Qualifications and Test Development at Cambridge talked about 'Preparing learners for the future'.
Uzma Yousuf, Country Director for Pakistan at Cambridge said: 'Our first ever Cambridge Teachers Conference Pakistan was truly inspiring. I am proud to be part of an education community that is so committed to working together to harness change for positive effect, and to giving young people the best possible preparation for the future.'
The programme included a panel discussion on 'What really matters in education?' led by Elizabeth Cater, Director, Global Marketing for International Education at Cambridge. Tabinda Mazhar, Head of Education MENA and Pakistan at Cambridge, also chaired a session titled 'Educational Insights: priorities from the frontlines'.
Delegates took part in breakout sessions where they could exchange ideas on key topics such as integrating technology in the classroom, fostering critical thinking and creativity, early years development, enhancing communication skills, promoting teacher wellbeing, fostering scientific curiosity and more.
