We work closely with schools, universities, and ministries to make sure our Cambridge PDQs offer the best possible professional development for teachers and school leaders. We review syllabuses on a regular basis so that the content is up to date, the assessment is appropriate, and our syllabuses remain highly regarded by universities and employers.
As part of this process we have recently reviewed the Cambridge International Award in Teaching and Learning and updated it to ensure that it reflects the latest in educational best practice.
From 2024, this professional development qualification will be replaced by the Cambridge International Certificate in Classroom Practice 5880.
It will be for new teachers or teachers new to international teaching and the Cambridge PDQ team will be working closely with our regional teams to develop a network of delivery centres.
We are not able to publish the syllabus until it is live, but it will be based on a six-unit structure as follows:
- Unit 1 – Understanding reflective practice
- Unit 2 – Understanding learning
- Unit 3 – Understanding teaching
- Unit 4 – Understanding the wider professional role of a teacher
- Unit 5 – Understanding barriers to learning
- Unit 6 – Applying understanding
