Equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging

Equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB) sits at the heart of our approach to inclusive education and is core to our purpose.

What is EDIB?

We define EDIB as follows:

• Equality – we work on the principle that everyone is treated in a fair and equal way, and given the same opportunities.
• Diversity – we recognise that our community of learners and teachers consists of people with different identities and characteristics.
• Inclusion – we welcome everyone, and we foster an environment where everyone is respected, celebrated and their needs are actively championed.
• Belonging – we want our learners and teachers to feel safe and accepted, regardless of their background or other characteristics, and that they belong to both their school and the wider Cambridge communities.

We consider EDIB through a wide range of characteristics and lived experiences including:

• age
• disability
• faith
• gender identity
• neurodivergency
• racial identity and ethnic origin.
