We believe every person has the right to feel safe, accepted and supported in our schools, whether they are a learner, a teacher, a leader or other member of the school community.
Inclusive education engages students in learning that is meaningful, relevant and accessible to the widest possible spectrum. We celebrate the diversity of our global community in what we do, respecting the different cultures and contexts in which we work. We work hard to make sure that the diversity of our students is represented and supported so that each one thrives by learning in the ways that are most suitable for them.
By focusing on inclusion, we make sure that all our students can take part in learning which is meaningful, relevant and accessible - not just those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or other individual differences.
When thinking about inclusive education, we work to minimise:
- physical barriers, such as access to a resource
- cognitive barriers, to help learners select their preferred method for responding to a task
- cultural or language barriers, for example making sure that instructions are explicit through clear and consistent command words.
Inclusion extends to making sure that a wide range of cultures, genders and abilities are represented across everything that we do, from curriculum and assessments to support such as textbooks and teaching and learning materials:
