In response to feedback from schools, we have developed new resources to support teachers in developing their learners’ skills. You can find the resources and exercises below on the School Support Hub through the syllabus pages, under the ‘Teaching and learning’ tab.
Speaking: Specimen speaking tests
These resources support teachers in conducting speaking tests. The videos and comments demonstrate the role of the teacher/examiner, the structure of the test, and give an indication of different levels of student performance. Familiar to teachers of Cambridge IGCSE™ languages, these are new for Cambridge International AS Level language syllabuses: Spanish and Chinese (for examination from 2024) and French and German (for examination from 2025).
Listening: Listening skills
Resources to support teachers and learners in preparing for the Listening components of their Cambridge IGCSE™ and O Level exams, including tips for teachers and learners, teaching activities and teaching tools, and an example lesson plan.
Writing: Writing skills text types
Resources to support the teaching of writing skills, including teaching learners how to create and compose a variety of text types. For Cambridge IGCSE™ and O Level language syllabuses and Cambridge IGCSE™ and O Level English syllabuses.
Evaluation and analysis: Skills exercises
These resources help teachers bring metacognitive strategies into the classroom and are organised using an assessment objective-based approach. Each resource includes topic-specific exercises with suggested classroom activities and teaching approaches. These support many of our Cambridge IGCSE™, O Level and Cambridge International AS & A Level humanities and social sciences syllabuses.
