We recently held a series of orientation sessions in the Middle East & North Africa region to support teachers who use Cambridge textbooks and resources. Each session included practical tips on how to use Cambridge resources effectively in the classroom, as well as how to develop students’ metacognitive skills.
More than 4000 teachers took part in the events – in-person and online – which were held at various locations including the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain.
We asked teachers what they found most useful about the sessions. Mennatallah Mohamed Kamal from Genesis International Schools said that learning more about metacognition was helpful, especially ‘how to encourage students to be independent learners and responsible for their learning.’
Samaher Sweid from New Generation International School appreciated 'gaining more knowledge on how to utilise the resources very well’, while Rifqah Parker from Newcastle International School, New Administrative Capital said it was ‘the ability to hear feedback from other teachers and the way the trainer assisted on how different topics could be applied in the classroom.'
Special thanks to the schools that generously provided their space and premises for holding these events. In Qatar, Edison International Academy; in Oman, Khaleej Private School; in Bahrain, Noor Al Diyar Private School; and in Egypt, Capital International Schools, City International School, Epic International School, and Scholar International Language School.
