We have been listening to schools and students as they’ve received their results. While many students are happy with their grades, we know some are disappointed.
This year is like no other. As everyone knows, we have had to use a very different system this year, given that we have not been able to run exams. Our aim throughout has been to make sure students can get on with their education and their lives.
We are aware of decisions taken by some government authorities in the UK, and we await more information early next week about how they will be implemented. Grades must still be awarded consistently and trusted by universities.
Schools can make different sorts of appeals to us, and students can take our exams in October and November, with extra subjects available and alternative arrangements to support schools with social distancing and safe reopening.
