Cambridge held a ceremony in partnership with the British Council on Thursday 4 July 2024 to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Nigeria’s top-performing students.
This year, 95 learners from 37 Cambridge Schools in Nigeria received an award acknowledging their exceptional performance in the June and November 2023 Cambridge exam series.
The winners include:
- Seven students from three schools who received a ‘Top in the World’ award which is granted to students who have obtained the highest marks in the world in a single subject.
- 58 ‘Top in Nigeria’ awards granted to learners who achieved the highest standard mark in the country for a single subject.
- 48 ‘High Achievement’ awards granted to learners who have achieved outstanding results in subjects which are not so widely taken.
- 8 ‘Best Across’ awards to students who attained the highest cumulative total standard marks over a set number of subjects.
During the event, Juan Visser, Regional Director Sub-Saharan Africa for International Education congratulated the learners for their hard work and tremendous success saying: 'The Cambridge education you’ve gained through your schools will be a great support in achieving your dreams. With an education that is trusted, recognised, and truly international, we believe you are all ready to make a positive impact in the world.'
In addition, Greenspring Schools Lagos, a British Council Partner School, was also recognised at the ceremony for specific impacts made in key areas such as best practice policies for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Child Protection. The school was also recognised for its work on the upward mobility for employees.
All winners received certificates from Cambridge in recognition of their accomplishments.
