Cambridge International hosted its 20th global Cambridge Schools Conference on 23-24 June 2023, bringing together more members of our teaching and learning community than ever before.
Over 500 educators from Cambridge schools worldwide attended the two-day event in Florida, US to explore the theme ‘Creating a positive environment for academic success’. They heard from Professor Hilary Cremin, Head of the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, who presented her work on peace education and shared ideas on how to build a sustainable peaceful environment in schools. She also ran a workshop to help participants come up with a practical action plan for their school.
Other keynote speakers included Dr Mark Winterbottom, Deputy Head of the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education (pictured above), Dr Nicole Cobb, Associate Chair of the Department of Human and Organisational Development at Vanderbilt University and Yong Zhao, Foundation Distinguished Professor, University of Kansas.
There were also practical workshops to help share ways to improve student performance, such as how to remove barriers to education for all students, and how to design accessible assessments.
Paul Ellis, Cambridge International’s Head of Teaching & Learning, said: ‘It was a fantastic event. Everyone I spoke to was enjoying the opportunity to think about education from different perspectives and reflect on how to design and maintain a positive learning environment.’
The next series of Cambridge Schools Conferences will be announced soon. The first conference is planned for December 2023.
