Five students from Chengelo School in Mkushi, Zambia have received Cambridge ‘Top in the World’ awards after scoring the highest standard mark in the world for a single subject in the November 2015 Cambridge exam session.
The winning students are:
- Karan Patel – Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies
- Dalitso Moyo – Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science Munashe
- Kakenenwa Muyangwa – Cambridge IGCSE Design & Technology
- Julu Nathanael Howard Lund – Cambridge International A Level Computing
- Anna Jean De Wet – Cambridge International A Level Psychology
To mark the students’ success, Mkushi District Education Standards Officer Eness Shooba attended a special assembly at which the winning students were presented with Cambridge ‘Top in the World’ certificates by Chengelo Principal Andrew Cowling. Mr Cowling highlighted the students’ hard work and dedication to their studies, and also the commitment of their teachers, noting that the students had ‘set their heights high and worked hard for their goals … you truly excel in life when you determine to always do your best.’
Ms Shooba added: ‘It is extremely rewarding to congratulate the students and teachers of Chengelo School who have worked so hard to achieve tremendous success in Cambridge examinations. These results are a reflection of the enormous talent in Zambia, not only among students but also within the teaching profession.’
Chengelo is a co-educational Christian Boarding School for around 370 students from primary to sixth-form classes, where students are prepared for Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International A Level exams.
