We are introducing some exciting changes to our Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary programmes.
In response to your feedback, we have revised our English, English as a second language, Mathematics and Science curricula. We have also made improvements to Cambridge Progression Tests and Checkpoint.
The changes will take place over the next three years, depending on which stage or year group you teach…
September 2020 onwards: Time to prepare
To help you get ready, we have published the new curricula and support resources well in advance of when you need to start teaching them.
You can start familiarising yourself with the changes by downloading our new Curriculum Frameworks and wide range of support from our primary or lower secondary support sites.
2021: First new teaching
We recommend that you begin to teach the new curricula from September 2021 onwards. The exact date you start will depend on which stage or year group you teach, whether you use Cambridge Progression Tests or Checkpoint, and when your academic year starts.
Check your relevant start date by viewing our helpful interactive guide.
2022: First new Cambridge Progression Tests
From 2022 onwards, our new Cambridge Progression Tests will be available every year instead of every three years.
Marked by teachers in your school, you can use them to check learners’ progress at the end of stages 3 through to 9. To help you familiarise yourself with the new tests, we’ve developed sample papers that you can download from our support sites.
2023: First new Cambridge Checkpoint tests
The first new Cambridge Checkpoint tests, to assess learners’ knowledge and understanding of the new curricula, will take place in 2023.
Instead of our current model which applies to three stages, these new tests will only assess the final stage of Cambridge Primary (stage 6) or Lower Secondary (stage 9).
