This course is designed to introduce the key principles and practices in Active Learning and Assessment for Learning.
What will I learn?
In this course, you will explore how to embed Active Learning and Assessment for Learning into your classroom practice. Under the guidance of an experienced Cambridge trainer, you will explore the following key questions:
- What is Active Learning?
- What is Assessment for Learning?
- How do Active Learning and Assessment for Learning raise student achievement?
- What practical Active Learning and Assessment for Learning tasks can you apply in your school context?
All Cambridge Enrichment courses focus on giving you practical ideas based on academic research. You will have the opportunity to work in your specialist area (or group of subjects) as well as with teachers from other subjects or disciplines.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for teachers who want to develop their classroom practice and would like an introduction to active learning and assessment for learning approaches.
With the exception of Active Learning and Assessment for Learning in Primary, our Active Learning and Assessment for learning courses are aimed at secondary subject teachers at all levels.
It is also suitable for Heads of Department or senior leaders who want to further their understanding in this area.

Course materials
In preparation for the course, please download the course materials to a laptop in advance - these are usually available 2 weeks before the course start date. To locate the materials, log in to the Professional Development Booking Portal, go to ‘My Bookings’ and click on the course – a link to download the materials will then appear.
Please ensure you bring the device with the downloaded materials with you to the course.

We offer a 10% early bird registration discount for this course if you book your place more than 28 days before the course start date. Please note, registrations will close 7 days before the first day of the course.

Participants who attend at least 75% of this course will receive a certificate of participation.

Language
This course will be delivered in English. English language competence comparable to Level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is necessary to fully participate. We recommend a minimum requirement of 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Further information may be obtained through the Council of Europe website.
