When schools in England moved to the 9–1 grading system, we surveyed universities to find out they will use the new grade set. This made clear that neither grade set will put students at any disadvantage.
Universities accept a wide range of qualifications, including GCSE letter grades from students in Wales and Northern Ireland. The A*–G awarding scale continues to be commonplace in applications.
Most universities do not have any entry requirements for specific grades at IGCSE, except for requesting a grade C or above in English Language, Mathematics and in some cases, Sciences. IGCSE grades are just one piece of information that admissions staff consider before making an offer.
