Our March exam series is also available to schools in Romania. We understand that schools in Romania might have questions about the March series, so we have put together the following frequently asked questions to help support you throughout the series.
All centres in Romania are in administrative zone 3. If you are in Romania, then your Key Times for the March series are different from your usual Key Times:
It is very important to note that your afternoon (or PM) Key Time is actually 11am Eastern European Time. This is because you are using the same Key Times as centres in India, which is ahead of you by 3.5 hours.
The March series is available to schools in India and Romania.
Please note - you cannot carry forward marks for the March series to the following June series because there is not enough time to do so.
The syllabuses available in the March exam series are those that receive the most entries from our schools in India, or that that we know are important to our schools in India.
For a list of available syllabuses, see our March series syllabus page. If a particular syllabus is not included in the March series, you can check to see if it is available in our June or November series.
Entries for Cambridge O Level syllabuses in India are significantly lower than entries for Cambridge IGCSE. Schools can still make entries for Cambridge O Level syllabuses in the June and November series.
Yes, the Cambridge ICE diploma is available in the March series. Candidates may enter syllabuses that contribute to the Cambridge ICE group award either in a single examination series or over two examination series, provided they are held during a 13-month period.
You must make a separate entry for students who wish to enter for the Cambridge ICE Award. This is done by entering the group award entry code ICE along with the syllabus entry codes. For two series students you must make the Cambridge ICE entry in their final examination series. Previous entry details must also be submitted for students who require results achieved in previous series to be included in the award of Cambridge ICE.
Failure to include ICE in the student entry will result in only Cambridge IGCSE certificates being issued without the Cambridge ICE certificate. You can find full details of the choice of subjects and entry criteria for the Cambridge ICE Award in the Cambridge Guide to Making Entries.
No, Cambridge Checkpoint is not available in the March series. The March series only includes specific Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS and A Level syllabuses.
We do not produce separate syllabuses for the March series. The ‘syllabus updates’ section on each syllabus webpage will highlight any differences for the March series. See our March series syllabus page to see what syllabuses are available.
For March 2023 there are component exemptions and guidance for components available to help schools disrupted by Covid-19. See our March 2023 pages for more details.
Yes, there is a separate monthly eNewletter for the March exams series. The newsletter is sent automatically to all exams officers at our centres in India and Romania that have eligibility to offer Cambridge IGCSEs and AS & A Levels. You will receive the eNews in the middle of each calendar month.
If you are not receiving it, please contact us by emailing info@cambridgeinternational.org and we will add you to our distribution list. Please let us know if you change your email address.
Yes, we provide training webinars for the March series and you can sign up to attend. All our training is free and suitable for new and experienced exams officers. You can also ask us questions during the webinars.
View our March series timetable.
If it is not possible for your candidates to sit exams timetabled for an AM session at the Key Time of 7am, then you must keep them under Full Centre Supervision from the Key Time until the exam begins.
You must supervise candidates in Full Centre Supervision. Full details on the regulations that must be followed for candidates under Full Centre Supervision can be found in the Key Times and Full Centre Supervision section of the Cambridge Handbook.
The March series timetable is available on our website: www.cambridgeinternational.org/march
The exams series itself will take place in February and March and results will be available in May.
You can find the key dates and Cambridge Handbook Supplement (March 2023 series) and the March series timetable is available on our website.
No, the Cambridge Handbook supplement for the March series, the final timetable, and the Cambridge Guide to Making Entries are only available online. We will not send you a printed copy.
Yes. These are available on the March series section of the website:
No, you do not need to make estimated entries for the March series. Please try to make your final entries as soon as possible so that we can send you the materials you need in time for your exams.
The Cambridge Guide to Making Entries tell you how to make entries for:
The Cambridge Guide to Making Entries is available on our website: www.cambridgeinternational.org/march

We charge an entry fee per syllabus for each candidate. An additional local fee may be payable to a parent organisation, if appropriate.
Our current fees lists are available to download from the ‘My Messages’ section of Direct. Each fees list covers exams sat from October through to September the following year.
You need to submit a final syllabus entry on Direct for every candidate who is planning to sit an exam. Your final entries tell us how many candidates will sit each syllabus and component at your centre, so we can work out the number of question papers and other exam materials we need to send you. Your final entries also tell us how many completed exam scripts we should receive back from your centre, after your candidates sit their exam(s). When we receive your exam scripts, we match them to your final entries, to make sure we can release a result for all your candidates.
Check your final entries carefully before you submit them. We charge late entry fees for any entries or amendments you submit after the entries deadline. Your Cambridge Guide to Making Entries contains syllabus and option codes, along with detailed instructions about submitting entries to us. You must make final entries for each candidate for each syllabus and option required.
You can make changes or amendments to your entries until the deadlines shown below. However, if you make entries or entry amendments after 27 November, we will charge a late entry fee, see the fees list in the ‘My Messages’ section of Direct.
You can amend candidate details without charge until the late entries deadline, see section 2.4 of the Cambridge Handbook.
We might not accept entries or amendments after these dates because we may not have enough time to send you the question papers and other materials you need for the exam. If you need to make entries or amendments after 22 January 2023 then please contact us so we can support you.
For more information, see the Cambridge Guide to Making Entries for the March series.
If you have already submitted your entries on Direct, you can still make changes before the entry deadline, and then re-submit your amendments to us using the 'Amendments to Submit' tab. You can find more details in the Cambridge Guide to Making Entries for the March series.
If you make entries or amendments after 27 November, we will charge a late entry fee, see the fees list in the ‘My Messages’ section of Direct. We might not accept entries or amendments after the entry deadlines, because we may not have enough time to send you the question papers and other materials you need for the exam.
You can check your entries are correct on Direct:
Statements of entry are available to download from Direct within 48 hours of submitting your entries. We do not send printed statements of entry.
The candidate name shown on the statement of entry is the name that we will print on statements of results and certificates. You must ask your candidates to confirm that the name shown is correct. Any amendments to certificates may be subject to a fee.
You can make entries until the late entries deadline. However, if you make entries or amendments after 27 November, we will charge a late entry fee, see the fees list in the ‘My Messages’ section of Direct.
We might not accept entries or amendments after the entry deadlines, because we may not have enough time to send you the question papers and other materials you need for the exam.
We have extended our withdrawal deadline so you can withdraw entries until 13 March 2023 (seven days after the end of the series) and receive a full credit for the syllabus fee. This is to support schools that may be uncertain about making entries because of the ongoing impact of the pandemic.
You can make withdrawals yourself, via Direct until 14 December. After 14 December you will need to contact us by email or phone so we can arrange the withdrawal and credit for you.
We generate invoices monthly. We recommend you pay for the entries you know you have made within normal payment terms and the credit will follow.
Yes. You can submit entries for candidates entered in the previous November series without incurring late entry fees up until 22 January 2023.
November results will be available on Direct from 10 January for Cambridge International AS & A Levels and from 18 January for Cambridge IGCSEs and O Levels.
We have information about retake entries, including what a retake entry is and some examples, on the March series retake entry page of our website.
Candidates normally carry forward the AS Level mark and not the grade. Therefore, if they do not have a mark because they received a school-assessed grade in March 2022, they will not be able to carry forward their AS Level result to A Level in the usual way.
Candidates who received a school-assessed grade in March 2022 can opt to be graded solely on their performance on the A2 components in the March 2023 series – the ‘A2-only route’. This is done by selecting an entry option code that includes the relevant March carry forward component. To be eligible for the A2-only route, candidates must have been entered in March 2022 for either AS or the full A Level for the syllabus and have received a school-assessed grade.
There is more information about carry forwards on our website.
Yes. You can enter candidates for the March, June, or November series.
No. The fees for the March series will be the same as our other exam series. The fees list is available on Direct.
You should use the samples database on our website – this contains information for the March exam series, as well as June and November.
To see March specific information, you must select ‘India’ from the Country/territory dropdown. This will give you a March series drop down option.
Yes, there are component exemptions and guidance for components available. See our March 2023 pages for more details.
We do not send you printed statements of entry. You can generate and download these in the usual way from the ‘Administer Exams’ section of Cambridge International Direct after you have submitted your entries.
We understand that there may be circumstances when a school needs to withdraw some or all of its entries.
We have extended our withdrawal deadline so you can withdraw some or all of your candidates until 13 March 2023 (at 23:59 UTC) and you will receive a full credit for the syllabus fee. You can make withdrawals yourself, via Direct until 14 December. After 14 December you will need to contact us by email or phone so we can arrange the withdrawal and credit for you.
Your source files will be available to download via Digital File Despatch at 00:01 India Standard Time / 20:31 Europe Standard Time, 3 days before the timetabled exam date. If you have not used Digital File Despatch before, we will email you before the files become available with details about how to set up your account.
Yes. All centres in Romania are in administrative zone 3. If you are in Romania, then your Key Times for the March series are different from your usual Key Times:
You must still follow our Key Times and Full Centre Supervision regulations. You can use our Key Time regulations to help you manage your exam timetable while still complying with any required social distancing arrangements.
When planning your exams you should think about how you can fit all of your candidates into an exam while also maintaining any local social distancing arrangements. This may include running your exams in multiple exam rooms with extra invigilators. To help you with this, you can ask us for additional sittings, timetable deviations, or for candidates to take exams at an alternative venue. If you need to apply for a timetable deviation you must apply for each sitting separately.
You must refer to the current Cambridge Handbook and Cambridge Handbook Supplement (March series) to find out how to apply, and the regulations you need to follow. You can also find out which form you need to complete, and the deadline for sending it to us.
You should create a contingency plan so that, if you or any of your invigilators or examiners suddenly fall ill, or show symptoms of Covid-19, exams in your centre can still take place.
Individual syllabuses specify whether you are able to do this or not. If this option is available, you can carry marks forward once within a 13-month period for Cambridge IGCSEs and twice for Cambridge AS Levels. See section 2 of the Cambridge Administrative Guide for the March series. You cannot carry forward marks for the March series to the following June series because there is not enough time to do so.
We plan to release results on 24 May 2023 on Direct. We plan to send out your provisional results despatch by early June.
The deadline for submitting enquiries about results is shorter than for the June and November exam series. The deadline for enquiries is early June 2023 and we will confirm the exact date as soon as possible.
We plan to send your certificates to you by late June.
