Samina Khan has been Director for Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach at the University of Oxford since 2014. She is responsible for strategy, policy and advocacy for admissions and student access across the University.
Samina has pioneered targeted access programmes to attract more students from underrepresented ethnic heritage and/or socio-economically underprivileged backgrounds. Presently, she is implementing a large-scale reform of Oxford’s admission tests and moving Oxford’s iconic admissions interviews online. She works with national and international policymakers and contributes regularly to the media and at conferences.
Prior to working for Oxford, Samina worked in the commercial, public and third sectors for a range of education related organisations; teaching sciences in a Further Education College in Birmingham, UK; working for the Department of Education to implement curriculum reform; working for regulators of national qualifications in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland; and for Edexcel Pearson as a Policy Advisor.
Samina studied at King’s College, London, completed a doctorate in Organic Chemistry from Loughborough, and undertook postgraduate study in education at St Hilda’s College, Oxford.
